TKAT launches paid summer internship programme for prospective trainee teachers

Posted on: 30th Jan 2023

TKAT is excited to launch a paid summer internship programme for prospective trainee teachers, starting in June this year.

This is a funded internship programme for summer 2023 and 2024 designed to attract high quality Science Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and modern foreign language (MFL) undergraduate students.

The programme will offer students the opportunity to experience teaching in maths, physics, chemistry, computing and modern foreign languages (MFL).  Interns will be offered a three week paid internship during the summer term - June/July funded by the DfE.

Interns will follow a structured programme of activities introducing them to some of the core aspects they would study as a trainee teacher, alongside supervised experiences in the classroom working with experienced expert mentors and teacher colleagues.

Schools taking part in our partnership will be TKAT Academy schools - Debden Park High School, Orchards Academy, Swanley, and Chichester High School, with partner schools Brockhill Park Performing Arts College, Hythe and Hillview School for Girls, Tonbridge.

Interns will also be given ongoing support from the TKAT SCITT team with school visits and support in applying for teacher training.  All interns will be guaranteed an interview for the TKAT SCITT Programme.

This experience is offered to undergraduates in any year group and our partnership will be taking up to 10 interns per year across our schools.  Applicants must be available to attend the programme from mid June.

More information can be obtained by contacting TKAT SCITT directly. Please email  scitt@tkat.org or visit the website https://scitt.tkat.org/
