Posted on: 14th Sep 2021

Following recent monitoring visits to Thomas Bennett Community College, TKAT are delighted to report that Ofsted have stated that the school’s Leadership Team are “taking effective action to make the school a good school”.

The findings of the Ofsted report are very positive, and it has been noted that, since the last inspection, rapid improvements have been made which have ensured that students at the school receive a curriculum which is both broad and ambitious.

In the report, Ofsted confirms that:

  • The school has a clear focus on making sure that every pupil, regardless of their starting point, can read with confidence.
  • Pupils can clearly and confidently talk about what they have enjoyed learning across a range of subjects.

Headteacher Stuart Smith commented:

“The report is great news for us here at Thomas Bennett. The hard work put in by staff and students is now paying off.  It shows we are doing things right.

Our school has seen several significant improvements recently; our improved quality of teaching has seen a rise in GSCE and A level examination results and I am confident that we will reach ‘Good school’ status very soon”

Dr Karen Roberts, TKAT CEO said:

"Thomas Bennett Community College has made rapid progress under Stuart Smith's leadership. It is a college that the community can take pride in, as it goes from strength to strength."
