TKAT leaders tell the TKAT ACE story at Ofsted Conference

Posted on: 21st Mar 2022

Over 300 delegates attended The Pupil Premium & OfSTED: Ensuring Successful Outcomes Conference 2022 on Friday, held at The National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.

The event brought together educationalists from across the UK and featured special guest speakers from TKAT; namely David Linsell, Director of the TKAT ACE (A Champion for Every Child) programme, Jo McKeown, Headteacher at Chichester High School and Kate Couldwell, Headteacher at Front Lawn Academy.

TKAT speakers led a workshop for delegates that explored the TKAT ACE programme and the use of pastoral tutoring to support the motivation, self-efficacy, and progress of Pupil Premium students.

Delegates learned how the ACE programme provides Pupil Premium children with personalised 1:1 support to help them progress both in terms of academic outcomes and social and emotional development. The workshop examined how the results of the programme so far have been transformational - so much so, that the programme is being expanded.

Independent evaluation has shown positive outcomes in maths and reading as well as in areas such as motivation and self-efficacy. The workshop identified why the programme has worked and discussed the lessons learnt so far, with advice for other schools on how to adopt and adapt the ACE approach.

Jo McKeown (Headteacher - Chichester High School) said:

“Telling the story of ACE and its impact on our pupils was one that clearly resonated with the people listening. If just one more school makes a commitment to ‘A Champion for Every Child’, that’s hundreds more children’s life chances changed for the better.”

Feedback from the conference was very positive - well done to all those involved.
