TKAT launches Trust-wide campaign for school governors

Posted on: 27th May 2022

TKAT has launched a Trust-wide campaign to recruit school governors from the local community.

Across our 45 schools, posters and information sheets will explain the benefits of being a school governor, and answer some frequently asked questions.

We are keen to recruit caring individuals from our school communities to help improve the life chances of our young people. We want those who can bring their passion, skill and knowledge to provide strategic support and challenge to our schools.

Being a school governor is a very rewarding experience, and those that take up the role find that they gain self confidence and a variety of skills such as teamwork, negotiation, problem-solving, business awareness and decision making. School governors enjoy networking opportunities which can prove useful for personal development and they also gain an insight into how a school runs.

School governors are voluntary roles, and those appointed need to be able to commit to 24 hours per year. A TKAT training programme will help prepare candidates for their role, which will involve strategic decision making to make sure the school meets the needs of the community.

If you would like to know more about being a school governor at a TKAT school, please email david.linsell@tkat.org in the first instance, indicating which school you are interested in. (You don't have to be a parent of a child in the school to apply.)

We look forward to hearing from you!
