TKAT 6th formers visit Oxford University

Posted on: 30th Jun 2022

20 Year 12 students from TKAT schools were delighted to experience a visit to Oxford University earlier this week.

St Peter's College, Oxford (www.spc.ox.ac.uk) is leading the way in widening access to Higher Education (HE), and their schools team and undergraduate volunteers organised a fantastic and inspirational day for our students. The event was all about showing state school students from normal backgrounds with high potential and aspirations that HE and Oxford University could be for them.

The college team talked the students through the application and interview process, gave them a tour with current students so they could ask questions about university life, provided an academic taster session, and hosted lunch in the college hall. Professor Judith Buchanan, Master of College, made time to speak to our students. They also arranged a visit for the group to Christchurch, which is another Oxford College.

The students were wonderful ambassadors for themselves, their schools, and the TKAT family. One of our students said: "It was such an amazing, comprehensive and inspirational day. They really made us feel like we could do it, and that this could be us in the future."

Thank you so much SPC, and we are already looking forward to our 2023 visit!
