TKAT Governor Conference 2022

Posted on: 25th Nov 2022

Earlier this month, over 60 TKAT delegates, including Governors and senior leaders gathered to attend a special Governor Conference. The event was streamed live for those who were attending virtually.

Held in the modern auditorium at Cleeve Meadow School, the keynote speaker was the Rt Hon David Laws, executive chair at the Education Policy Institute (www.epi.org.uk) who delivered an inspiring speech about the education policy landscape and about closing attainment gaps for disadvantaged pupils.

Gaenor Bagley, Chair of TKAT Trustees spoke about the progress made by TKAT and building on the momentum of the strategic intent framework.

TKAT’s Senior Leadership Team talked through our strategic priorities of improving educational outcomes and supporting those most in need, with the ambition that we are recognised as a leading large Multi Academy Trust (MAT) for the attainment and progress of all our pupils. This ambition will be supported by our pillars of intent - being an employer of choice, working as an integrated Trust, and building a sustainable and viable infrastructure.

During the break, representatives from the corporate services teams held a ‘market place’ forum, where they gave information about their respective service areas and answered questions from Governors at the event.

David Linsell, TKAT Director with responsibility for governance, held a fascinating discussion about the importance of stakeholder engagement and how to ensure maximum impact from the working relationship between Governors, school and the local community.

To complete the day, Directors of Education joined Governors to explore how to get the most from TKAT regional meetings in the future.

Feedback from the day was positive, with attendees commenting that they felt inspired and ready to contribute to the continued development of governance in their schools.

Thank you to all involved.
