East Wickham Primary Academy is a three form entry primary school and part of The Kemnal Academy Trust (TKAT), rated as a “Good” school by Ofsted. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work initially in the Reception year, although at a later time you may be asked to work in other year groups. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic individual, keen to enhance our children’s education, who will help our learners to stay focused and on task. You will support the teacher and take small groups as directed. You will need to be flexible in your approach to the different needs of our pupils, have a sense of humour and a calm manner. You will be expected to have a current first aid certificate or be willing to receive training to become a qualified first aider.

 

Experience would be an advantage particularly within an EYFS setting. Candidates with a CACHE Level 3 or equivalent qualification will be given preference.

 

A good personal standard of mathematics and literacy is expected. This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.  The school  therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages.
