TKAT's Newlands Primary School in the top 10% in the country!
Posted on: 8th Jan 2024TKAT's Newlands Primary School in Ramsgate was celebrating the release of the national results for Year 6 children just before Christmas.
The results for children in their SAT tests just before they move up to secondary school placed Newlands in the top 10% of schools nationally for progress in both Reading and Writing. Progress in Maths puts the school in the top 20% of schools nationally.
This summer, 74% of Newlands Year 6 children achieved the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths, compared to a national average of 60%. The average for Kent primary schools was 59%.

An impressive 14% of those children achieved a higher standard in reading, writing and maths, compared to the national figure of 8%.
Across the board Newlands children surpassed national averages with 79% of children reaching the expected standard in reading (national average 73%), 81% in writing (national average 71%) and 74% (national average 73%) in maths.
Headteacher David Bailey said,
"The children worked extremely hard to achieve outstanding results and we couldn't be happier for them. We have come together as a community to work together and create new futures. It's always so pleasing to see hard work paying off."
There is still time to apply for a place in the reception class at Newlands from September 2024 and the deadline is 15th January. There are also limited places available in some other year groups.
