PRICE: Protecting Rights in a Caring Environment Transform Conflict into Connection: Accredited Positive Behaviour Support/Physical Intervention Training Course
Shenstone has moved away from using Team-Teach for our physical restraint training provider, and we are now working with PRICE Training (Protecting Rights In a Caring Environment).
PRICE is a leading provider of training designed to help staff in education, health, and social care settings manage "behaviours of concern"—situations where a person’s distress may lead to actions that are challenging or unsafe. The approach is rooted in Positive Behaviour Support
(PBS) and Trauma-Informed Practice, with a strong focus on reducing the need for restrictive interventions.
We have 6 trainers available at Shenstone and have the license to be able to train all staff within our TKAT schools. So if your teams need restraint training updates and want to move over from Team-Teach, please let us know, as we can help support your training needs with our Outreach offer.
By focusing on the PRICE training principles, we help your school move from a reactive to a connected approach. Shenstone is running a new training course for those new to PRICE
The training moves through a hierarchy of response and development of skill areas.
Primary: Environmental changes and understanding the "function" of the behaviour (why it's happening).
Secondary: Recognising early warning signs and using diversion or "strategic capitulation" to calm a situation.
Tertiary: Safe, ethical physical intervention only when there is an immediate risk of harm.
Skill areas and outcomes:
- Communication - Shift the perspective to see "behaviour as communication"
- Team Dynamics - Develop a unified, calm response to high-stress moments.
- De-escalation - Master a toolkit of verbal and non-verbal intervention strategies
If you have any questions regarding training needs please contact Eve Kennett eve.kennett@shenstone-tkat.org
Additional Information:
Please do not park in the school car park, as it affects minibus and taxi pick-ups throughout the day. There is plenty of free parking around the school neighbourhood.
