Welcome back to our TKAT ACE Tutors

One of our priorities is to support pupils most in need. TKAT ACE - a champion for every child - plays a key role in that.

This is a unique and innovative pastoral mentoring programme that provides a dedicated and specially trained 1:1 tutor for disadvantaged pupils and their families. The aim is to help these pupils overcome barriers to their progress both in terms of academic outcomes, and their social and emotional development. You can find out more on the TKAT ACE site.

The new academic year began with a warm welcome back to the ACE Tutors Network meetings. The first session included valuable CPD training, focusing on how ACE Tutors can best support pupils with SEND, with particular attention to our neuro divergent learners and helping them achieve their full potential.

At TKAT, this area is a major priority, as around one third of our pupils with SEND have Autism or communication and interaction needs. This made the session especially relevant and well-received by our dedicated ACE Tutors, equipping them with strategies to help pupils thrive and successfully navigate their school journey.

The Network meeting also provided a fantastic opportunity for tutors to connect with colleagues from neighbouring schools, strengthening working relationships to support children through transition, and sharing resources and best practice.

A special thank you goes to Sara Walton, Director for SEND & EAL whose expert knowledge and carefully designed content ensured the session was both powerful and impactful.

The ACE Regional Leads look forward to building on this momentum throughout the year.
