Tangmere's Buddy Bench

TKAT ACE* Ambassadors and Well-being Ambassadors at Tangmere Primary Academy have been working together on a new project to enhance the school environment.

They’ve helped introduce a new 'Buddy Bench' - giving children a safe and visible place to sit if they’re feeling lonely, sad, or would like someone to play with.

The 'Buddy Bench' encourages others to notice, reach out, and invite their peers to join in, helping to build a culture of kindness, inclusion, and friendship across the school.

This new initiative also supports children in developing empathy, communication, and emotional understanding - skills that will benefit them well beyond the playground.

Headteacher Paul Turney said:

 "We’re so proud of our pupils and the positive difference they’re making!"

*TKAT ACE (A Champion for Every Child) is a pastoral mentoring programme that pairs disadvantaged students (Pupil Premium) with dedicated tutors for one-on-one support, helping them to overcome academic, social and emotional barriers to improve attendance, learning and life chances through trust-building relationships with the child and family.
