Kemnal academies in focus: Thanet after school clubs

For children across the 5 Kemnal schools in Thanet, the excitement doesn’t stop at the end of the school day. A broad offering of clubs are giving children the perfect opportunity to try out new activities, learn vital life skills or enhance existing talents or interests. Extra-curricular clubs also provide children with the chance to mingle with those from other classes or year groups. This improves social skills, and offers wider friendships, connections and communities.

Football club has been a popular choice at Salmestone Primary School in Margate, and the team has been successful in local tournaments. At Drapers Mills Primary, also in Margate, children can explore mindfulness with an after school club that offers calm concentration with yoga and breathing techniques alongside fun and engaging craft activities.

Cross Stitch club is currently run at Northdown Primary School in Margate. The children work on a practice piece, perfecting their stitches before designing and completing their own textile artwork. Engineering club at Newlands Primary School in Ramsgate offers pupils from Reception to Year 6 the opportunity to get hands-on with STEM activities, including making fully functioning rail carriages!

The Thanet schools are also proud to offer a range of different clubs. Cleaning club is a new addition to the offering at Dame Janet in Ramsgate, where children learn how to clean various surfaces, gain expertise from the school’s cleaning team, and have even been in to help clean the staff room!

Please keep an eye out for more after school clubs coming to your local Kemnal school soon.
