Posted on: 31st Mar 2023

On 21st March, TKAT held the 2023 annual Safeguarding Conference, attended by over 70 safeguarding colleagues from across our TKAT academies.

The conference was opened and closed by TKAT Deputy CEO Liz Harrison; Liz shared the golden thread of safeguarding and the impact and importance of safeguarding across the Trust.

The conference included 6 incredible keynote speakers:

Jim Gamble, the CEO of the Ineqe Safeguarding Group spoke about his wealth of safeguarding knowledge and involvement in the serious case review ‘Child Q’.

Colin Stitt, from Safer Schools updated delegates about changes to our Safer Schools app - an app that is accessed Trust-wide.

Anthony Daulphin, CEO and founder of the multi award-winning national education organisation 'Standing Ovation Project', and a TEDx speaker, shared information about a project which supports pupil attendance, engagement and participation.

Wayne Beech and Catherine Harris from Porchlight, spoke about the charity's work to support some of the most vulnerable people in our communities with a focus on homelessness and engagement.

Kim Scott from Safer Place joined the conference virtually to discuss the collaboration between the J9 project and our TKAT academies, raising awareness of domestic abuse and how as a Trust we can support our whole school communities.

The overarching theme of 'child’s voice' and 'listening' was woven through every speaker and TKAT Safeguarding team shared information about ongoing safeguarding projects, support and training and discussed the importance of self care and reflection for Designated Safeguarding Leads in their roles.

TKAT would like to sincerely thank Caterlink who kindly supported the conference.
